HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. – Constable Bill McKenna with the Hudson’s Hope RCMP published a policing report which said that police responded to 45 calls for service over the past four weeks.During the month of July, Hudosn’s Hope RCMP issued 70 motor vehicle act warnings and violation tickets.On July 25th, RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle speeding in a construction zone which nearly hit one of the flaggers. The vehicle was located and the driver was issued several violation tickets for driving without due care and attention as well as distracted driving as he was using a cell phone when passing by police. On August 3rd, RCMP was called to a collision on Highway 29 where a truck rear-ended a boat and trailer being towed by another truck. The boat was dislodged from the trailer and was sent flying across the opposite lane into the ditch. The drivers of both trucks were treated for minor injuries. The driver of the offending vehicle was issued a violation ticket for driving without consideration for others.On August 4th, RCMP stopped a vehicle and determined the driver had consumed enough alcohol to warrant a 3-day driving prohibition.On August 6th, RCMP attended a collision involving two riders on a motorcycle. The driver was suspected to have consumed alcohol and refused to provide a breath sample. The driver was issued a 90 day driving prohibition and the motorcycle was impounded for 30 days. Both riders were treated for minor injuries and taken to the hospital.On August 14th, RCMP responded to a condensate tanker roll over. The truck and trailer were engulfed in flames though the driver was able to the driver was able to get away from the vehicle before first responders arrived. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious burn injuries while the collision is still under investigation. RCMP are still seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspicious white Ford F-150 with racing stripes as the vehicle is believed to be linked to many recent break and enters.RCMP is also reminding drivers that school zones will soon be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and to drive the appropriate speed limit. Drivers found cruising over the limit could receive tickets from $196 to $253 along with 3 demerit points.

New Delhi/Chennai: The Lok Sabha election to the Vellore constituency in Tamil Nadu was cancelled on Tuesday by the Election Commission (EC) two days ahead of the polling following recovery of huge amount of cash allegedly from an associate of a DMK leader recently.A government notification rescinding the polls said the EC was “fully satisfied that the current electoral process in Vellore has been seriously vitiated on account of unlawful activities of certain candidates and some workers of the political party.” Also Read – Uddhav bats for ‘Sena CM’Perhaps, this is the first time election to a Lok Sabha constituency has been cancelled over use of money power. The byelection to RK Nagar Assembly seat in Tamil Nadu was cancelled in April 2017 following similar seizure of huge cash, allegedly meant for bribing voters. The cancellation of the poll, scheduled for April 18 along with 38 other constituencies in the state, evoked sharp reactions from the DMK which alleged it was an attempt by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “besmirch” the party using the Election Commission. Modi has planned to wreck the polls by allegedly misusing the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, Income Tax and the Election commission,” DMK president M K Stalin told reporters in Tiruchirappalli. DMK Treasurer Duraimurugan, whose son Kathir Anand is the party candidate in Vellore seat, told PTI that cancelling the poll was a “murder of democracy.” Allies of the DMK also condemned the cancellation of the poll. Ruling AIADMK demanded that Anand be disqualified from contesting the poll instead of cancelling the election. The EC notification said in the commission’s considered opinion conducting the poll in Vellore in such a vitiated atmosphere would “severely jeopardise the conduct of free and fair election.” Hence, the commission recommended cancelling the polls to the government which was accepted and poll for Vellore seat was annulled. President Ram Nath Kovind issued the order rescinding the polls by amending portions of the original poll notification that called the electorate in Vellore to elect a member to the Lok Sabha.The EC took the decision after the district police had filed a complaint against Anand as well as two party functionaries on the basis of a report from the Income Tax department on April 10. Anand was charged under the Representation of the People Act for giving “wrong information” in his election affidavit filed along with his nomination papers, the police have said. The other two, identified as Srinivasan and Damodaran, were booked under bribery charges. A copy of the official notification cancelling polls in Vellore was released here by Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo. On March 30, Income Tax officials had conducted searches at the residence of Anand’s father Durai Murugan over suspected use of unaccounted money for electioneering, and seized Rs. 10.50 lakh which was alleged “excess” cash. Two days later, tax officials said they had seized Rs 11.53 crore from a cement godown belonging to a DMK leader’s associate in the same district. “Cash stuffed in cartons and gunny bags neatly packed for ward and division-wise distribution were unearthed,”officials had said. Murugan, however, had said he had not concealed anything. Questioning the timing of the Income Tax department’s operation, he had alleged that the raids were a “conspiracy” by certain political leaders who could not face them in the electoral arena.
Mumbai: National Award winning actor Rajkummar Rao has praised his girlfriend and actor Patralekhaa. He says the Citylight actor makes him proud. Rajkummar recently shared a poster of Patralekhaa’s next film titled Badnaam Gali along with a poster of his forthcoming film Mental Hai Kya. In the image, Patralekhaa can be seen with a blooming baby bump and actor Divyendu Sharma in a shocked expression. Cheering for the actor, Rajkummar captioned: “It doesn’t happen quite often that both our posters come out on the same day. You wonder girl Patralekhaa. You make me proud.” The Zee 5 original film Badnaam Gali is all set to release on May 10, 2019. Rajkummar starrer Mental Hai Kya, however, has been postponed to June for release. Directed by Prakash Kovelamudi, it will release on June 21. The couple, who was first seen in Citylights in 2012, have been dating since then.
