Most of our clients wants to live in their own house. Everyone of them wants to have a home in a beautiful place, most of them near to the center or very near to its developed infrastructure. At today´s prices to such an ideal place can realistically afford only a fraction of them and only part is willing to pay for the land, which cost is equivalent to several times the price of the average plot.Save this picture!Courtesy of Mjölk architektiOur clients search their own way how to achieve the best value ratio. But the best value means different things for different people. If your claims are flexible enough and you can bear a few compromises you can get a reasonable things for good money. Sometimes we are asked to work on a plot which is on a steep hill that only a fool would buy, the other time we design a house so narrow that it remains of noodle where you can barely turn around. Each client sees the value elsewhere. When selecting the plot, the basis is to think and see the future. ‘How I live today, how will I live in two years or in ten years? Maybe I will need a stroller for triplets or I will become fond of cycling.’ Things are changing and a small analysis of our own lives wouldn´t hurt anybody.Save this picture!SectionThe quality houses raises from extreme places. Limits and problems don´t necessarily mean a tragedy. The great amount of fantastic houses are built in very improbable conditions.Save this picture!Courtesy of Mjölk architektiThe size of the house wasn´t the criteria for one of our clients. He wanted to reconstruct an old houseboat anchored in area of Sailing club in Smichov. His requirement was easy: to live in the centre of Prague with a little bit of navy romance, to be able to go for a bear with his boat or to get to sunday´s Farmers market in city centre on the quay. Today our adventurer and traveler can tell the stories how he slew shark with a tripod camera. So the conclusion is: live in te city, buy houseboats!Save this picture!Floor PlanProject gallerySee allShow lessPrivate Family Home / LA Hally ArchitectSelected ProjectsD&P Residence / Atelier ParaleloSelected Projects Share Houseboat / Mjölk ArchitektiSave this projectSaveHouseboat / Mjölk Architekti Save this picture!Courtesy of Mjölk architekti+ 27 Share 2014 Houseboat / Mjölk Architekti “COPY” Architects: Mjölk Architekti Year Completion year of this architecture project center_img ArchDaily CopyAbout this officeMjölk ArchitektiOfficeFollowProductWood#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesPragueHousesCzech RepublicPublished on September 05, 2014Cite: “Houseboat / Mjölk Architekti” 05 Sep 2014. Student group protests China’s Muslim internment

first_img“There is actually a lot of surveillance going on,” Stanski said. “Chinese officials are being placed into their houses and if they, for example, do something that is considered extremist such as fasting for Ramadan, then they get placed in a camp. It’s really horrific what’s going on in and outside of the camps within Xinjiang.” Students dressed in blue carried signs saying “Uyghur rights are human rights” and “Cultural Genocide” at a campus demonstration aimed at bringing attention to the injustices suffered by Chinese Uyghurs. The event was organized by Delta Phi Epsilon, an international relations and foreign service fraternity. DPE President Jong Su Kim ended the demonstration by thanking everyone for attending and doing their part in raising awareness for the cause.  “We all feel very strongly about the injustices that Ughyurs are facing in Western China,” said Stanski, a sophomore majoring in international relations. “By devoting an entire week to study the subject, it means that we’re able to learn more about what’s happening and advocate for what’s right and for our legislators to make a difference.” Humanitarian Affairs Vice President Breana Stanski said the organization decided to bring attention to the cause after briefly studying it in international relations classes. Students were frustrated that their classes didn’t go into much detail about the injustices. “All these students here today who are coming out, we all have [classes], we all have better things that we could be doing,” Liew said. “At the end of the day, I think the most important thing is to be able to go to bed at night knowing that you did the right thing.” Thomas Kim, a senior majoring in international relations, said he joined the demonstration because of the lack of conversation about the genocide taking place in China and hoped they could bring more attention to the issue. “I felt just by being a part of this demonstration, if we can make one more person more aware about the issue, that we will have done our job,” Kim said.  Stanski said the number of Uyghurs in concentration camps has increased exponentially since 2017, and a number of atrocities were committed against the Uyghurs including sexual abuse, young girls getting injected with serums to stop their periods and men being forced to trim their beards.  Liew said that raising awareness on the issue was necessary since governments, companies and organizations were afraid to do so, and if students didn’t take a stance, nobody else would.  Student protesters staged a demonstration against China’s treatment of Uyghur Muslims in concentration camps at an event organized by Delta Phi Epsilon, USC’s professional foreign service and international relations fraternity.(Long Le | Daily Trojan) “I think we’re really setting a good precedent as an organization,” Kim said. “We all study these issues, we all study human rights, international law. When there’s injustice happening somewhere, even though all we can do is wear blue and march around, we should at least do that.” More than 30 students joined the 30-minute walk from Tutor Campus Center to USC Village chanting “What do we want? Human rights. When do we want them? Now.” and “What do we want? Justice. Who is it for? Uyghurs.” Attendees were encouraged to dress in blue in honor of the East Turkestan flag. The demonstration was part of DPE’s week of action that includes fundraising for advocacy group Human Rights Project and a panel discussion on Xinjiang. (Long Le | Daily Trojan) Sean Liew, a senior majoring in international relations, said he suggested focusing on the Uyghur issue to Stanski and other members because it had not received much attention, especially internationally, because countries have been afraid of how it would affect their economic ties with China.  The event was organized as part of DPE’s Week of Action to raise awareness about Uyghurs being placed in Chinese concentration camps, which has included fundraising for the advocacy group Uyghur Human Rights Project. The project will place pressure on legislators to take a stance against China, and organize a professional panel with experts on China and human rights to discuss Xinjiang and the future of the Uyghurs. “A lot of countries are afraid to speak out on [the Uyghurs’] behalf for fear of repercussion from the CCP,” Liew said. “I think, whether it’s Hong Kong or the Uyghurs or Tibet or anywhere, it’s the same teams, the same fight — human rights.”last_img read more

NFF Crisis: Police Arrests Chris Giwa

first_imgThe drama briefly caused a disruption of the operations of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) as customers and other visitors were locked out after the compound was barricaded. Giwa was whisked away in his own car about 4.20 pm to the police station on the order of the DPO, who sought to know his mission at the Glasshouse.Temper also boiled over as policemen in the team of the DPO and journalists clashed after the security men prevented reporters from covering the event.Giwa arrived football secretariat after the management of NFF was duly served a copy of the court order nullifying the NFF board election in Warri on September 30, 2014, that brought in Amaju Pinnick as the president. The order granted by Justice Musa Kurya presiding at Jos High Court was served on both the NFF and Sports Minister Solomon Dalung by a court bailiff who was accompanied by a senior police officer, acting on the instruction of the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase. It was after he was about leaving that he found the gates barricaded and the DPO notified of his presence by one of the policemen securing the NFF office.A very confident Giwa, accompanied by some members of his group, told reporters that he was at the NFF office to restore all the orders which he said were granted to him by the court since 2014.He said those orders gave him the permit and rights to be at the NFF secretariat which had been secured by police in the past three weeks.Giwa who insisted he was duly elected on August 26, 2014, in Abuja, said though he had resumed duty as NFF President, he would take full charge of business on Monday.“It has been in the news for over a month that we got a ruling from the Federal High Court, Jos restoring all the orders granted us since 2014 to date.Share this:FacebookRedditTwitterPrintPinterestEmailWhatsAppSkypeLinkedInTumblrPocketTelegram By Olawale Ajimotokan in  AbujaAmbassador Chris Giwa who through a Jos, Plateau State court order assumed the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), was yesterday arrested by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wuse Zone 7, Abuja for trespassing on the premises of the federation.last_img read more

Cheptegei’s father unhappy, Maj Seiko cries

first_imgShare on: WhatsApp Pages: 1 2 Entebbe, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The father of Uganda’s double gold medal winner at the just ended Commonwealth Games has expressed his unhappiness on how the government treats family and friends of medal winners.Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei won gold for Uganda in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the Games that climaxed on Sunday in Gold Coast, Australia. The team returned on Thursday afternoon and members from the Sebei Community, where Cheptegei comes from, were unfortunately first denied access to Entebbe International Airport and later the Old Airport VVIP Section to receive the team.“This is very unfortunate because we travelled from Kapchorwa to receive our children and now we have been denied chance to welcome them because the government wants to run the show. This is very bad,” Cheptegi’s father Stephenson Munerya Kwalya told URN. They had first been denied access at the Old Airport VVIP Section where the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, was welcoming the team.Kwalya said there was no way him and his wife would enter the building unless the relatives who also travelled from Kapchorwa were allowed in. When State House staff Norah Nassimbwa arrived at the gate asking for Cheptegei’s mother, security then allowed all Sebei community members to enter, but were again denied entry to the Hall where a press conference was held. Only Cheptegei’s parents were allowed inside the Hall. The arrival of the team and planning was obviously not well coordinated as many members including some from the National Council of Sports (NCS) were bounced at the entrance.Major Juma Seiko, an aide of Gen Salim Saleh, the head of Operation Wealth Creation, was also a victim as he was seen crying after he was denied entrance to the Hall where the press conference took place. Seiko was heard abusing some security officers whom he said accused him of stopping Cheptegei’s parents from entering without other members from the Sebei community.“How can a junior officer accuse me of something I have not done and tarnishing my name in-front of the First Lady. I have served the army for 39 years and you cannot spoil my name like this,” said Seiko as his tears rolls down the face.Major Seiko is also a member from the Sebei community and occasionally comes to Entebbe International Airport to welcome athletes from Kapchorwa who win medals. Some of the athletes including Mose Kipsiro occasionally stay at his house in Nakasero when they are in Kampala.last_img read more

Dembele edges Barca closer to unbeaten season as Real lose at Sevilla

first_imgAlready crowned champions and winners of the Copa del Rey, Barca were controversially denied a guard of honour by Real but Villarreal were happy to perform the ‘pasillo’ as the hosts walked out before kick-off.Valverde left some key players out, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Ivan Rakitic all missing from the starting line-up. Messi, however, was included despite calls for the Argentinian now to be rested ahead of this summer’s World Cup.It meant a start for Dembele, who took his chance to impress with the stand-out performance of the night.Dembele has endured a difficult debut season since joining for 147 million euros from Borussia Dortmund last year but Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu said this week he is not for sale, and the 20-year-old delivered the perfect response.“He is a player that has a lot of talent,” Valverde said. “He is fast, he has this spark. All players need a process of adaptation and when you are young you still have to learn. Next year Dembele will be with us.”His run that set up Coutinho’s opener in the 11th minute was arguably the moment of the match as he picked up the ball 10 yards inside Villarreal’s half before driving past three defenders and unleashing a shot.Villarreal goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo palmed the ball away but only to Coutinho, who was left with a tap-in.Dembele then grabbed a late brace, his first an easy finish after a brilliant run by Rakitic down the right, his second coming after he sped away from Villarreal’s defence, and lifted the ball over the helpess Asenjo.Share on: WhatsApp Barcelona, Spain | AFP | Ousmane Dembele scored twice as Barcelona thrashed Villarreal 5-1 on Wednesday and edged closer to their first ever unbeaten season in La Liga. But Real Madrid slipped to their only league defeat since February as a heavily-rotated side lost 3-2 away at Sevilla.Lionel Messi volleyed in a sumptuous pass from Andres Iniesta at Camp Nou to put Barca three up at half-time after Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho had scored one apiece in the first 16 minutes. The second period, however, belonged to Dembele, who capped an excellent individual display with two goals after the Frenchman’s sensational run had also earlier set up Coutinho.Villarreal managed a consolation when Pablo Fornals’ shot deflected in off Nicola Sansone but any fears Ernesto Valverde’s side would feel the effects of Sunday’s ‘Clasico’ proved unfounded. The league leaders moved 15 points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top while Villarreal stay sixth. The Yellow Submarine are only three points ahead of Sevilla, however, who climbed back into the Europa League qualification spots with a well-deserved win over Real.Zinedine Zidane said he wanted to maintain momentum ahead of their Champions League final against Liverpool on May 26 but Marcelo, Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo were among those not even included in his squad.Sevilla took full advantage as Wissam Ben Yedder, Miguel Layun and a Sergio Ramos own-goal put them three up, before Real substitute Borja Mayoral and a late Ramos penalty late gave Real a flatteringly close result.Barca drew last weekend against Real, despite playing the entire second half with 10 men, and they now need only avoid defeat in matches away at Levante and home to Real Sociedad to complete the campaign as invincibles. It would be the first time a team has finished a 38-game La Liga season unbeaten and the first in any format since Real avoided defeat in a division of only 10 teams in 1932.“In the end we have scored two great goals, we are happy about this and we keep the run going,” Valverde said.last_img read more

Man City snap Liverpool winning streak to reignite title race

first_imgSane threatened first with a pacey burst down the left and rising drive that Alisson Becker parried. But City recycled possession and Aguero beat Dejan Lovren to Bernardo Silva’s cross before firing into the roof of the net to score for the seventh time in seven home league games against Liverpool.Despite a combination of nerves and fatigue at the end of a gruelling festive period, the game truly came to life in a pulsating second-half.City had claims for a penalty waived away when Raheem Sterling tumbled under a challenge from Andy Robertson before the Scot was to play a vital part Liverpool’s equaliser. One Liverpool full-back picked out another as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross was met perfectly by Robertson to square for Firmino to head into an empty net.Pep Guardiola had his head in his hands when a slack pass from Sane set Liverpool free on the counter-attack moments later, but within seconds the German showed what he is capable of as he latched on Sterling’s pass before firing in off the far post.Alisson demonstrated why Liverpool spent a then world record £67 million for a goalkeeper in July to bolster their title chances with a brilliant save from Aguero as the Argentine tried to round him at the end of a blistering City counter-attack.Seconds later it was the turn of his understudy in the Brazil side to make a huge save as Ederson denied Salah as tempers flared with Guardiola furious a free-kick wasn’t awarded City’s way before the Egyptian broke clear.Sterling then wasted a great chance to ensure City didn’t have to see out a tense five minutes of stoppage time, but the hosts held out to put the title back up for grabs.Share on: WhatsApp Manchester, United Kingdom | AFP | Manchester City inflicted Liverpool’s first Premier League defeat of the season to breathe new life into their title defence with a 2-1 victory at the Etihad on Thursday.City now trail Jurgen Klopp’s men by just four points thanks to Leroy Sane’s winner 18 minutes from time after Roberto Firmino had cancelled out Sergio Aguero’s first-half opener for the hosts.A run of nine straight league wins had given Liverpool a commanding lead at the top of the table as they edged towards a first top flight title since 1989/90, particularly after City suffered back-to-back shock defeats to Crystal Palace and Leicester to begin the festive season. With no more league meetings between the sides to come, Liverpool’s destiny is still in their own hands, but they will now have the pressure of having a City side that romped to the title with a record 100 points last season on their tails.Jurgen Klopp had predicted a “thunderstorm” of a start from the champions to match the Champions League quarter-final second leg between the sides last season when City roared into an early lead before Liverpool fought back to win 2-1 on the night and 5-1 on aggregate. However, despite City’s dominance of possession, it was Liverpool who looked the more assured in the early stages. And only the finest of margins denied the visitors the lead on 19 minutes when Sadio Mane burst onto Mohamed Salah’s pass and saw his shot come back off the inside of the post.John Stones then smacked his panicked clearance into City goalkeeper Ederson but the England international redeemed himself by clearing just before all of the ball had crossed the line.City were also handed a reprieve by referee Anthony Taylor when captain Vincent Kompany only saw a yellow card for a wild two-footed lunge on Salah. At the other end Virgil van Dijk was again justifying his tag as the world’s most expensive defender to keep City’s array of attacking talent quiet with he Dutchman standing tall to block David Silva’s effort. However, a Liverpool defence that had not conceded twice in the same game all season in the league before kick-off was breached when City managed to free Aguero from Van Dijk’s shackles.last_img read more
