French Pharmaceutical Company Launches Advertising Campaign Against Morocco

Rabat- French pharmaceutical company Sanofi has launched an advertising campaign for an anti-diarrhea medication in which it uses pictures of Jamaa El Fna Square and the Koutoubia Mosque, with the slogan “Do not spend your holidays in the bathroom.”According to tourismapost, the posters of the campaign have been spotted in several public places in Geneva, including restaurants and pharmacies, and near the United Nations headquarters.“For now, we do not know if the campaign is being broadcast in other cities or other countries,” says the tourism website. Sanofi S.A is a French multinational pharmaceutical company headquartered in Paris, France. As of 2013, it is the world’s fifth-largest by prescription sales. The company has offices in over 100 countries around the world, including Morocco.Fouzi Zemrani, vice president of the National Confederation of Tourism and a member of Marrakech regional council of tourism was quoted by tourismapost as saying:“I protest against this type of advertising which is destroying the image of a mythical site in order to promote a medication,” he said.“All the restaurants in Jamaa El Fna Square are subjected to strict food safety standards.
