WISHH Committee Meets with USDA FAS

first_imgThe American Soybean’s Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) Committee recently held its business meeting and participated in a briefing with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) staff.Outgoing Vice Chair Levi Huffman, of Indiana, and Treasurer Stan Born, of Illinois, who have completed their tenures on the committee, were also recognized for their service.The USDA briefing allowed WISHH’s leadership to gain insight into the multiple FAS programs that WISHH uses to connect trade and development opportunities for U.S. soybean growers. Staff for the FAS Office of Capacity Building and Development, as well as the FAS Office of Trade Programs reported on the scale of their programs as well as their work with WISHH. Other FAS office representatives also explained their support through analysis, strategic planning and overseas operations in FAS offices around the world.While the farmer leaders from across the nation were in Washington, D.C., WISHH also conducted its annual committee member training, covering topics ranging from governance and financial management to funding and communications.last_img
