John Bizon, R-Battle Creek, was named to the community college task force by House Speaker Kevin Cotter on Wednesday.“It is an honor to be appointed to this task force,” Rep. Bizon said. “Community colleges are a key to success for many students in Michigan, and we must hold them to a high level.”The task force, made up of members from both the House and the Senate, was formed to review, evaluate, discuss, and make recommendations regarding performance in community colleges across the state.The task force will report its findings and recommendations to the house and senate appropriations subcommittees on community colleges, the house and senate fiscal agencies, and the state budget director by January 15, 2016.Rep. Bizon, who serves on the house subcommittee, is the sole republican member serving on the task force.“The role of community colleges in our state is enormous,” Rep. Bizon said. “It gives students a chance to get their education off to a great start with less debt.
