The Walker County Commission meeting in Jasper was packed Tuesday as residents came to address their concerns over some new changes. The commission first heard from residents and elected officials about a report that the current computer system for the county is being changed to a new company. This news came as an irritation to several residents and county employees.Commissioners said they were exploring some difficult options and nothing is definitive about changing computer systems. Later in the meeting, commissioners passed a resolution supporting the Alabama gasoline-diesel fuel tax for infrastructure.“If we had a major road washout or, heaven forbid a bridge washout, we don’t have the funds to replace that bridge or really fix a major washout road, so we’re limited,” District 1 Walker County Commissioner Kevin Davis said. “Our revenue comes from Montgomery. They indicate and send to us what we are allowed to spend based off what they pass in Montgomery.”Commissioners appointed a member to the Walker County Housing Authority Board as well.
