“The legislation will alleviate the grave concerns among local and foreign business communities about the violent and terrorist forces,” Xie said. His comments added to a chorus of strengthening government rhetoric against protesters in the Chinese-ruled city, where security officials cited cases involving explosives “commonly used in terrorist attacks overseas” as a growing concern. The proposed legislation, which could also see Chinese intelligence agencies set up bases in one of the world’s biggest financial hubs, sent Hong Kong’s stock market tumbling last week and drew condemnation from Western governments.Pro-democracy activists fear it would limit rights and freedoms guaranteed under a “one country, two systems” agreement made with Britain on Hong Kong’s 1997 return to Chinese rule. But Xie said the legislation would, in fact, strengthened it and rights would be preserved.”Do not be intimidated or misled, exploited by those with ulterior motives and in particular, do not be a rumour monger yourself, or join the anti-China forces in stigmatizing or demonizing the legislation,” he said, addressing “law-abiding citizens and foreign internationals who love Hong Kong”.Topics : China’s foreign ministry office in Hong Kong said on Monday some actions during last year’s pro-democracy protests were “terrorist in nature” and “troublemakers” colluded with foreign forces, posing “imminent danger” to national security.Xie Feng, commissioner of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, made his remarks during a speech on proposed national security legislation in Hong Kong, in which he sought to reassure foreign investors they would not be affected.Xie said the law tackled secession, subversion, foreign interference and terrorism and would only affect a small number of residents, while for the rest “there was absolutely no need to panic”.
Infrastructure, Press Release, Restore Pennsylvania Hopewell Twp., PA – Governor Tom Wolf today visited Hopewell Township to learn how Raccoon Creek continues to flood the adjacent Green Garden Plaza Shopping Center, threatening center tenants and nearby industrial parks, and to detail how Restore Pennsylvania can help offset loss and damage from frequent flooding. Gov. Wolf was joined by Rep. Rob Matzie and county and township officials on the visit.“After decades of neglect and little help from the federal government to repair ongoing flood damage, Pennsylvania communities are struggling,” Gov. Wolf said. “Restore Pennsylvania is necessary to address our legacy infrastructure needs and will help make Pennsylvania a leader in the 21st century. The flooding mitigation needs of Hopewell Township are not unique, but they are necessary, and long overdue. Restore Pennsylvania can help.”Governor Wolf recently proposed Restore Pennsylvania to provide funding to help towns and cities prepare for flooding and severe weather, upgrade flood walls and levees, replace high-hazard dams, and conduct stream restoration and maintenance.Restore Pennsylvania also will establish a disaster relief trust fund to assist individuals who suffer losses that are not compensated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency or other programs. In 2004, Hurricane Ivan caused Raccoon Creek to overflow and destroy the Green Garden Plaza Shopping Center. The center, which houses the only large grocery store in the area, was rebuilt, but tenants are met regularly with the need to plan for flooding when rains are heavy – a more frequent occurrence as Pennsylvania experienced the wettest year on record in 2018.“Governor Wolf is no stranger to our community,” Rep. Rob Matzie said. “He has showed his support time and time again. When he announced his Restore PA initiative, one of the areas that stood out to me was the governor’s recognition of the need for flood mitigation. So, I am thrilled to have him come to Green Garden Plaza to give him a firsthand look at the economic recovery there, and, most importantly, the water management challenges that remain.”Restore Pennsylvania is an ambitious infrastructure initiative funded by the monetization of a commonsense severance tax. Restore Pennsylvania will invest $4.5 billion over the next four years in significant high-impact projects throughout the commonwealth to help catapult Pennsylvania ahead of every state in the country in terms of technology, development, and infrastructure.Encompassing new and expanded programs to address five priority infrastructure areas including high speed internet access, storm preparedness and disaster recovery, downstream manufacturing, business development, and energy infrastructure, demolition, revitalization, and renewal, and transportation capital projects, Restore Pennsylvania projects will be driven by local input about community needs.Projects identified by local stakeholders will be evaluated through a competitive process to ensure that high priority, high impact projects are funded and needs across Pennsylvania are met.View the full Restore Pennsylvania plan. Mohamed Salah has once again gone the extra mile to put a smile on a fan’s face with the gift of a signed boot to a young supporter injured in a bomb attack. Eight-year-old Hamis al Gacir lost a leg as the result of bombing for the Assad Regime Forces in Idlib, Syria. Fitted with a prosthetic leg, the youngster escaped to the nearby Turkish province of Hatay. This week, Hamis received a thoughtful gift from Liverpool winger Salah in a heartfelt show of support during such a difficult time. The Egyptian ace sent over a signed boot attached to a framed poster featuring illustrations of the footballer. Crampons also came with the boot to help the youngster attach it to his prosthetic leg and kick a ball with his hero’s boot. Hamis gaves a thumbs-up while posing for photos with the gift while donning full Liverpool kit. This is not the first time Salah has lent a helping hand to those in need. The 27-year-old has donated significant funds to build a hospital and school in his hometown of Nagrig. In March of 2018, he handed over £500,000 for medical equipment to treat child cancer at Cairo’s 57357 Hospital. The drama briefly caused a disruption of the operations of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) as customers and other visitors were locked out after the compound was barricaded. Giwa was whisked away in his own car about 4.20 pm to the police station on the order of the DPO, who sought to know his mission at the Glasshouse.Temper also boiled over as policemen in the team of the DPO and journalists clashed after the security men prevented reporters from covering the event.Giwa arrived football secretariat after the management of NFF was duly served a copy of the court order nullifying the NFF board election in Warri on September 30, 2014, that brought in Amaju Pinnick as the president. The order granted by Justice Musa Kurya presiding at Jos High Court was served on both the NFF and Sports Minister Solomon Dalung by a court bailiff who was accompanied by a senior police officer, acting on the instruction of the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase. It was after he was about leaving that he found the gates barricaded and the DPO notified of his presence by one of the policemen securing the NFF office.A very confident Giwa, accompanied by some members of his group, told reporters that he was at the NFF office to restore all the orders which he said were granted to him by the court since 2014.He said those orders gave him the permit and rights to be at the NFF secretariat which had been secured by police in the past three weeks.Giwa who insisted he was duly elected on August 26, 2014, in Abuja, said though he had resumed duty as NFF President, he would take full charge of business on Monday.“It has been in the news for over a month that we got a ruling from the Federal High Court, Jos restoring all the orders granted us since 2014 to date.Share this:FacebookRedditTwitterPrintPinterestEmailWhatsAppSkypeLinkedInTumblrPocketTelegram By Olawale Ajimotokan in AbujaAmbassador Chris Giwa who through a Jos, Plateau State court order assumed the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), was yesterday arrested by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wuse Zone 7, Abuja for trespassing on the premises of the federation.
